The R230 is a generic replacement Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) for Leroy Somer brushless generators. It operates with a PMG (Permanent Magnet Generator) power input of 90–140V AC (single-phase, 2-wire) at 45–65 Hz, with a voltage supply and sensing range of 85–139V AC at 50/60 Hz.
The R230 delivers a maximum output of 100V DC at 120V AC input, with a continuous current of 8A and intermittent current of 10A for 10 seconds. Minimum field resistance is 15 ohms. Voltage regulation accuracy is ±0.5%. Rapid response time is 500ms for a transient voltage variation of ±20%. Thermal drift is 0.03% per °C change in AVR ambient. Maximum power dissipation is 6 watts.
External voltage adjustment of ±5% is available via a 5kΩ trimmer. Under-frequency protection is set at 47 Hz for 50 Hz systems and 57 Hz for 60 Hz systems (adjustable). Internal EMI suppression filtering is included. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +60°C.
