AVR AS440 | Generic for Cummins

The AS440 is a self-excited Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) and generic replacement for the Cummins AS440, designed for brushless generators. Sensing input is jumper selectable at 100–130V AC (single-phase) or 190–264V AC (single-phase), at 50–60 Hz.

The AS440 delivers a continuous output of 82V DC at 200V AC input, with a continuous current of 4A and intermittent current of 6A for 10 seconds. Minimum field resistance is 15 ohms. Voltage regulation accuracy is ±1.0%. Thermal drift is 0.03% per °C change in AVR ambient. System response time is 20ms for AVR response, 80ms for field current to reach 90%, and 300ms for machine volts to reach 97%.

External voltage adjustment of ±10% is available via a 1kΩ trimmer. Under-frequency protection set point is 94–98% of nominal Hz. Over-excitation protection triggers at 65V DC with a 10–15 second time delay. Quadrature droop input is supported with 10 ohms burden. Analog input accepts up to ±5V DC. Maximum power dissipation is 12 watts. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C.
