The R448 is an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) for Leroy Somer brushless generators, compatible with AREP or PMG excitation systems. Voltage sensing is available at three selectable ranges via terminal taps: 95–140V (terminals 0-110V), 170–260V (terminals 0-220V), or 340–520V (terminals 0-380V), all at 50/60 Hz. Shunt supply is 150V at 50/60 Hz.
The R448 delivers an output of 82V DC at 200V AC input. Voltage regulation accuracy is ±0.5%. Short circuit capability is 3× rated current for 10 seconds (with AREP or PMG excitation). Rated overload current is 10A for 10 seconds. Built-in electronic protection covers overload, short circuit, and loss of sensing — if excitation current exceeds 10A for more than 10 seconds, it drops automatically to approximately 1A.
Response time is 1 second (normal) or 0.3 seconds (rapid) for a ±20% voltage variation. Remote voltage adjustment range is ±5%. Excitation over-current adjustment (P5) is 4.5 to 10A. Frequency selection (50/60 Hz) is made via jumper ST3. Contact capacity is 10A at 250V AC.
