The SX440 is a self-excited, single-phase sensing Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) and generic replacement for the Cummins SX440, designed for brushless generator systems. Input voltage is 190–264V AC (single-phase, 2-wire) at 50–60 Hz.
The SX440 delivers a maximum output of 90V DC at 207V AC input, with a continuous current of 4A DC and intermittent current of 6A for 10 seconds. Minimum field resistance is 15 ohms. Voltage regulation accuracy is ±1%. Thermal drift is 0.04% per °C change in AVR ambient. Voltage build-up starts from 4V at the AVR terminals. Maximum power dissipation is 12 watts.
External voltage adjustment of ±10% is available via a 1kΩ trimmer. Under-frequency protection set point is 95% of nominal Hz with a slope down to 30 Hz. Quadrature droop input is supported with 10 ohms burden. Analog input accepts up to ±5V DC. System response time is 20ms for AVR, 80ms for field current to 90%, and 300ms for machine volts to 97%. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C.
