Mecc Alte ECO 2 Ecologizer Idle Control Board for AP, AR1, MR1, MR2 Brushless Alternators, Generator Auto Idle and Fuel Saver, 50/60 Hz
The Mecc Alte ECO 2 Ecologizer is a load-sensing idle controller for generator sets fitted with Mecc Alte AP, AR1, MR1 or MR2 brushless alternators. It watches the load current and slows the engine to about 60% of rated speed when nothing is connected, which reduces fuel use, noise and exhaust emissions. When a load of more than 100 mA is switched on, the board brings the engine back to rated speed immediately. An adjustable delay of 5 to 60 seconds, set on the board or with a remote potentiometer, keeps the engine at speed between short bursts of tool use.
To keep enough voltage at idle to power the board and the load, the ECO 2 connects an auxiliary capacitor in parallel with the alternator’s main capacitor. This holds about 60 Vac per output winding. If the output rises above 145 Vac per winding (290 Vac in series), overvoltage protection lights a red LED and puts the alternator in a safe condition. To reset, remove the supply for a few seconds.
A complete system needs three parts: this ecologizer board, an auxiliary capacitor sized for your alternator, and a 24 Vdc throttle solenoid on the engine. The solenoid and capacitor are not included. Works on 50 Hz and 60 Hz alternators. Wiring diagrams for one- and two-winding versions are in the Mecc Alte technical data sheet.
